Effective September 20, 2026
Terms built for respectful connection.
These Terms of Use apply when you access or use Afar. By using Afar, you agree to use the service responsibly and consistently with these terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use Afar. By using the service, you confirm that you meet this requirement and can agree to these terms.
2. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide, keeping access to your account secure, and activity that occurs through your account. Do not share your password or use another person’s account. Contact us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
3. Mutual relationship connection
Afar supports a one-to-one relationship connection through mutual pairing. A connection should only be created with the other person’s knowledge and agreement. You may end a connection at any time.
Private and shared experiences depend on choices made in the app and, where applicable, both people meeting reveal conditions. Do not attempt to bypass those boundaries or access another person’s private information.
4. Acceptable use
Use Afar in a respectful and lawful way. You may not use Afar to:
- Harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, exploit, or intimidate another person.
- Commit fraud, impersonate someone, or provide materially false account information.
- Access another person’s account or private information without permission.
- Interfere with the service, bypass safeguards, or use the service for unlawful purposes.
- Upload or share content that violates another person’s rights.
5. Relationships, wellbeing, and emergencies
Afar offers prompts and tools intended to support conversation and discovery. Afar does not guarantee any relationship outcome and cannot resolve relationship disputes.
Afar is not an emergency service, therapy, medical care, legal advice, or crisis support. If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. For mental health, domestic violence, or crisis support, contact an appropriate local professional or crisis resource.
6. Ending connections and safety reports
Either person may end a connection at any time. If a user reports discomfort involving a partner while ending a relationship, Afar may retain that report privately for safety and service integrity. It is not shown to the former partner.
7. Service availability and changes
We may add, remove, pause, or change features as Afar develops. The service may occasionally be unavailable. We do not promise that every feature will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
8. Afar intellectual property
Afar’s app, website, brand, wordmark, design, software, and original content are owned by Afar or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These terms do not give you ownership of Afar’s intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse engineer it except where the law permits.
You keep ownership of content you provide. You give Afar permission to host, process, and display that content only as needed to operate and protect the service according to your choices and our Privacy Policy.
9. Suspension and termination
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access when we reasonably believe an account is being used in violation of these terms, creates risk to other users or the service, or must be limited to comply with law. You may stop using Afar, end a relationship connection, or delete your account at any time.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Afar evolves. We will revise the effective date and provide notice when appropriate. Continuing to use Afar after updated terms take effect means the updated terms apply to your use.
